To perform the upgrade to GeoDin 10, please update your GeoDin 9.5 licences first (for an upgrade of older GeoDin licences, please contact support@geodin.com). You can download instructions for the licence upgrade from the following link:
https://download.geodin.com/geodin/manuals/english/
The current version of your licence is displayed in the GeoDin Licence Manager (see screenshot).
Once you have successfully updated your licence, you can carry out the software update. There are two options for this.
Online update
In the GeoDin user interface, navigate to the "System" tab at the top left. Select the "System configuration" node and start the "Online-Update" method.
Manual update
To update your GeoDin installation manually (replacing the geodin.exe program file), please proceed as follows:
- Close GeoDin.
- Download the geodin.zip file from https://download.geodin.com/geodin/geodin.zip.
- Unzip the geodin.zip file.
- Use the unzipped geodin.exe file to replace the file of the same name in the BIN directory of your GeoDin installation (you can still keep the old geodin.exe by renaming or moving it).
New project structure in GeoDin 10 (limited downward compatibility)
The extended GeoDin project structure in GeoDin 10 allows more than 9998 objects to be saved within a GeoDin project. GeoDin 10 databases with more than 9998 objects in a GeoDin project are given a corresponding database version number and can no longer be used with older GeoDin versions (see screenshot).
GeoDin databases without project structure (UniqueLocationID)
As of version 10, databases without a classic GeoDin project structure, so-called UniqueLocationID databases, are no longer supported. When opening a UniqueLocationID database in GeoDin 10, you will receive the following error message:
If you have previously used UniqueLocationID databases, please contact the GeoDin support team via support@geodin.com before updating to GeoDin 10.
